With Auckland communities being saturated with unhealthy food options, the Papatoetoe Food Hub is making it easier for people to get good kai.

Led by directors Michelle Potoru, Raju Ramakrishna, Waikare Komene and a team of dedicated locals, this community-driven project also aims to nurture and develop new approaches to food to tackle the issue of food insecurity in South Auckland and is supported by Panuku Development, The Southern Initiative, Healthy Families South Auckland and Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board.

Opened since July 2019 the Papatoetoe Food Hub is already working closely with local businesses, farmers and community to make positive change.

This includes partnering with Papatoetoe New World to rescue some of the supermarket's surplus produce to create healthy, affordable meals and juices at the Food Hub.
